I also want to thank Glenn for being incredibly generous with providing me with a coupon to download this book for free. His kindness is one to remember.
Dec 08, Larry B Gray rated it it was amazing. I have read each book in the series and each book keeps getting better. As the story develops and the plot takes its various twist Glenn continues to weave an exciting tale that you can't wait to see what happens next. The action is non-stop and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a great book and part of a great series. I can't wait for the the next one. I highly recommend this book. Jan 29, Franz McLaren rated it it was amazing.
This book is filled with non stop adventure, epic battles, evil creatures, and invincible demons. These are well rounded out with a healthy dose of intrigue and deception.
More titles to consider
This series is a must read for those who like their fantasy epic and powerful and this book is the best so far. May 29, Jagged rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites , books-i-have. What if Theta comes? What do we do then? Now be quiet. I was going to buy this one.
But as it turns out, my husband also read the first three books and beat me to buying the next three in the series. I kind of feel betrayed because now he is on book seven, which means that he already knows more than I do! This will just not do. I'm going to start with the c "What? I'm going to start with the cons Thater still enjoyes his lengthy descriptions, especially of what Thetan is wearing--which you already know, because it's been told many times before. Mild annoyance, very mild, and an annoyance I will tolerate, because this shit it worth it.
Yes, too. He had to. And it wasn't just a one time slip up, every time someone "had to," it was "had too.go site
The Harbinger of Doom
And I think there were a few missing words, but actually, I can only recall one. So, in the grand scheme of things, that's really not that bad. And the other con? My husband beat me to the rest of these books, and that is clearly Thater's fault, because he obviously writes so well, everyone that reads these books are compelled to read further. No book is perfect, and I had to point out the flaws. It might have upset the balance of the universe had I not, and I'm just not willing to risk it.
So on to the good stuff. I must make it clear that Thater is a genius. A fucking genius. Now, hear me out. How many different angles and agendas are running through this series? I am losing count. But, they all make some kind of sense, they are all connected in ways that also make sense. The political aspects are done so well, with so much wisdom, it may as well be taking place today--which sadly, it actually is, so take heed to what he's saying. Thater knows how to connect to his audience.
And if it isn't accomplished through one way, he has several other ways to ensnare you. And it just so happenes that every way he tries seems to work on me. It must be some kind of magic. It's just not natural. This would be the first series I have read where there wasn't a main character, that had me so engrossed and attached to every one, good or bad, especially since there's no way to know which side is actually evil, and the true attachment is actually to the story.
Dwellers of the Deep by Glenn G. Thater
No one has accomplished that with me. No one. I can't really relate to any of the characters, now that I actually think about it--but I don't even care about that. It's so unusual for me. I like to anchor myself to a character, feel their emotions. But oddly enough, I do not miss that connection in these books. It's amazing. Really, it speaks volumes to Thater's writing ability. I just don't even have the words. There is so much going on, everything is so intricate, and there is so much obscurity that my head is spinning. Thater makes you think. And not just ponder what life really means, or whether there is a higher power out there, but he makes you question every character, everyone's motive, what the endgame is.
I can't say that I have ever truly been this engaged in a read.

It's just fantastic. And I really don't think that's enough. But I will be reading the rest. For those of you who have not read any of this series, if you're not satisfied with the first book, read the second one anyway. Do it!
Dwellers of the Deep (Harbinger of Doom, Volume 4)
The first one just lays down the roads for the rest of the series, so it is very important to read it, but definitely give the second book a chance before you move on from this series. I'd be floored if you regretted it. This is a great tale with a few interesting details Like the wizard that chews tobacco and a Gnome that says dagnabbit.
Each book flows right into the next.

On to the 5th one! Wonderful story and world. Meh I was being generous with three stars. Too much skipping around between varied plots and little advancement tho the story. Frankly book 4 was a nothing read.
